This Restaurant Is Permanently Closed!

I read somewhere on a wall that you can tell a lot about a person from its BBQ sauce. This statement might be true for certain States, but I can tell you the BBQ sauce here at Moonshine BBQ has a sweet, tasty and smokey flavours.

We were 6 not-so-big eaters. We ordered the full Champion which consists of pulled pork, roasted chicken, briskets and pork ribs. The meal comes with several sides - tater tots, sweet potato fries, cornbread, mustard slaw, mac&cheese and chili. In addition, we ordered a full rack of beef ribs. It was enough food to get us through the following morning. I highly recommend both pork and beef ribs - moist, tender, fall-off-the-bone and messy. The chicken was tender and juicy with a generous coating of BBQ sauce. The brisket was good but not the best I have eaten, it was slightly on the dry side. As for the sides, the mac&cheese was cooked al dente with a creamy coating of cheddar sauce. The cornbread has a moist and crumbly texture with a nicely golden crust. The meal would not be complete without ordering a Stewart's black cherry soda. Don't ask me why specifically this drink, but for some reason, black cherry soda and meats marry well together.

We took a break of about 15 mins before ordering desserts. There are two options available - key lime cheesecake and carrot cake. The cheesecake was firm with no noticeable cracks, it has the right amount of tartness and bitterness to not overpower the overall dessert. The carrot cake is moist with bursty flavour of cinnamon flavour frosted with a sweet cream cheese icing.

If you are craving for good BBQ and you are around the NDG area, go for Moonshine BBQ, you won't regret it.
