This is the year again for another edition of Happening Gourmand. Similar to Taste MTL, eight restaurants in the Old-Montreal all owned by the Antonopoulos Group are serving a 3-course meal at a fraction of the price - an ideal way to discover Old-Montreal gems at an affordable price.
We were invited to the media tasting for a foretaste from each participating restaurant. One dish can't dictate the overall dining experience of the restaurant. It all depends on what you feel comfortable eating for this year event. If you are really curious on what each dish tasted like, you can check out their review here. I have to say from beginning to end, the food was delicious and full of flavors.
There were two outstanding dishes that I would highly recommend. The bison bresaola from Méchant Boeuf has a perfect balance of texture and taste. Paper-thin slices of cured meat gives a melting feel on the tongue. It is served with a celery root remoulade that is light on the mayo and gives a nice crunch and freshness to the overall dish. Kyo Bar Japonais impressed us with Kyo - their house specialty sushi. It consists of strawberry, crab meat, avocado, litchi. It was sweet, delightful and refreshing. It's like having sushi for dessert.
